CCTV and AI cameras built on tested cabling.
Cloud-managed Verkada systems from SEGcore, with power and cabling by SEG. One team on site and one number to call.

A CCTV system is only as dependable as the cabling, power and design behind it. SEG’s group company SEGcore, a Verkada Gold Partner, designs and supports cloud-managed and AI camera systems. SEG’s electricians and data engineers install the power and tested cabling, so there is one team on site and one number to call.
What we offer
- Site survey and camera design to cover what matters, not just fill walls with cameras.
- Cloud-managed Verkada cameras with AI search and alerts, viewed from a dashboard or app.
- Access control and door entry that works with the cameras. See door entry.
- Power, containment and cabling from SEG, tested and documented.
- Support and licensing through SEGcore after handover.
Why cabling decides how reliable CCTV is
Most cameras take their power and data down one network cable. If that link is poorly terminated or too long, the camera drops out, freezes or reboots, and it is blamed on the camera. We build the cabling ourselves, test every link with our Fluke certification tester and hand you the results. Read more about data cabling and Fluke testing, and about our business Wi-Fi.
Rules you need to follow
CCTV that films people is covered by UK data protection law. In practice that means clear signs, deciding who can view footage, keeping it no longer than you need and being able to deal with requests for it. The Information Commissioner’s Office publishes guidance on this. We help you set systems up with these in mind. This is general information, not legal advice.
Who it is for
- Businesses and offices that want cameras without a recorder cupboard.
- Housing providers and managing agents securing communal areas.
- Retail and industrial sites covering yards, entrances and stock.
- Existing SEG customers who want power, cabling and security from one contractor.
What to ask any CCTV installer
- Who designs the system, and will I see where each camera looks?
- Who installs and tests the cabling? Ask for the test results.
- What are the ongoing licence or support costs, and what do they include?
- How long is footage kept, and who can see it?
- How do you help me meet data protection rules, including signs?
- Who do I call when a camera drops off?

Questions people ask
Who provides the CCTV?
Our group company SEGcore designs and supports the systems. It is a Verkada Gold Partner. SEG’s electricians and data engineers provide the power, containment and tested cabling.
What is a cloud-managed camera system?
The cameras are managed and viewed through a web dashboard and app rather than a recorder in a cupboard, so you can see footage and manage users from anywhere. Cloud-managed systems normally include an ongoing licence per camera. We explain the running cost before you commit.
What do AI cameras do that ordinary cameras do not?
They make footage searchable and useful: finding a vehicle, a person or an event without watching hours of video, and sending alerts for things you care about. What is switched on, and how it is used, is your decision.
Do I have to tell people I have CCTV?
Usually, yes. In the UK, CCTV that films people is covered by data protection law. You should display clear signs, limit who can view the footage, keep it no longer than needed and be able to respond to requests for it. The ICO publishes guidance, and we can help you set a system up with this in mind. This is general information, not legal advice.
Why does cabling matter for CCTV?
Most modern cameras are powered and connected through a single network cable. A poor link is a common reason cameras drop off, freeze or reboot. We install the cabling and test it with our Fluke tester, so the cameras start on solid ground.
Can CCTV link with door entry and access control?
Yes. Cameras and access control can work together, so you can see who came through a door and when. Ask us about door entry and access control as part of the design.
Last updated 3 October 2026. CCTV and AI camera systems are provided by SEG Core Ltd (SEGcore), a group company of The Specialist Electrical Group Ltd. General information, not legal advice.
Need it done by a date?
Tell us the deadline. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can hit it — and we usually can.
