Business Wi-Fi that works everywhere you need it.

Surveyed first, cabled and tested properly, and installed by one team. Wi-Fi surveys, network design and installation for businesses across Hertfordshire and beyond.

Most business Wi-Fi problems are not the Wi-Fi. They are access points in the wrong places, cabling nobody tested, power that was an afterthought, and a network nobody designed. SEG’s group company SEGwifi surveys, designs and installs business Wi-Fi, and our electricians and data engineers build everything behind it. One team, one number to call.

Why business Wi-Fi fails

  • No survey. Access points are placed by guesswork, so there are dead spots and noisy overlaps.
  • Untested cabling. A bad link to an access point shows up as slow, patchy Wi-Fi that is blamed on the Wi-Fi.
  • Power and containment as an afterthought. Switches without power, trays not bonded, cables run wherever there was room.
  • One network for everything. Staff, guests and devices all share one network, which hurts both security and speed.
  • Nobody owns it afterwards. No documentation and no one to call when something changes.

Survey first, then design

A Wi-Fi survey measures how signal behaves in your real building: walls, ceilings, racking, glass and the people in it. SEGwifi uses professional survey software (Ekahau) to plan where access points should go, how they share channels and how many devices each can carry. You get a design you can understand before anything is bought or installed, and the plan is checked once the network is live.

Installation that is built to last

  • Cabling to every access point, tested with our Fluke certification tester, with the results handed over. See data cabling and Fluke testing.
  • Rack and switch builds with PoE planned, power and UPS where needed, and everything labelled.
  • Containment and power from SEG’s own electricians, so it is installed once and installed properly.
  • Separate networks for staff, guests and devices.
  • Handover and support: documentation, a check of coverage once live, and someone to call.

Who it is for

  • Offices and fit-outs where video calls and cloud apps must not drop.
  • Warehouses and industrial units with racking, large open spaces and handheld scanners.
  • Schools and colleges with many devices at once.
  • Hospitality, housing and marinas that need guest and resident Wi-Fi, indoors and outdoors.

What to ask any Wi-Fi installer

  1. Will you survey the building first, and will I see the plan?
  2. Who installs the cabling, and will it be tested and the results given to me?
  3. Who looks after power, containment and the cabinet? If the answer is “someone else”, who manages that?
  4. How will staff, guests and devices be separated?
  5. Will you check coverage once it is live, and what documents do I get?
  6. Who do I call when something changes?

Questions people ask

Do I really need a Wi-Fi survey?

If you want Wi-Fi that works everywhere, yes. A survey measures how signal behaves in your actual building, through your walls, ceilings and racking, and works out how many access points you need and where they go. Guessing is how businesses end up with dead spots and too many or too few access points.

How many access points will I need?

It depends on the building, the number of devices and what they do, not just the floor area. A warehouse with metal racking and an open-plan office are very different jobs. The survey gives you a number and a plan before you commit to buying anything.

Who provides the service?

Our group company SEGwifi designs and installs business Wi-Fi. SEG’s electricians and data cabling engineers provide the power, containment and tested cabling, so one team covers the whole job.

Can you do Wi-Fi outdoors and in warehouses?

Yes. Outdoor areas, car parks, yards, warehouses and marinas need different equipment and mounting from an office. We survey and design for the space you actually have.

Can staff, guests and devices be kept on separate networks?

Yes, and they should be. Separating staff, guest and device networks is good practice for both security and performance, and it is part of the design we agree with you.

What do I get at the end?

A working network, the cabling test results, a record of where every access point is and how the network is configured, and a named contact for support.
