Retail lighting, CCTV and electrics for shops.

Lighting that sells the stock, power that never lets you down, and cameras that deter theft. All from one contractor, around your opening hours.

Shops need three things from their electrics: lighting that sells the stock, power that never lets the tills or the fridge down, and security that deters theft and shows what happened when it does not. We do all three, around your opening hours.

Retail lighting

  • LED upgrades of old tubes and spotlights, with good colour rendering so products look as they should.
  • Track and accent lighting for displays and windows, on timers so the window stays lit after closing.
  • Back of house: vapour-proof LED fittings in stores and plant rooms.
  • Emergency lighting on escape routes, tested monthly and annually.

We install Verkada cloud-managed cameras for shops: visible enough to deter, clear enough to identify, and easy for the owner to use from a phone. Footage is stored on the camera, so there is no recorder to steal, and clips can be shared with the police in minutes. See CCTV and AI cameras and security lighting.

Power, testing and compliance

  • Fixed wire testing (EICR) and remedial work, so you can show your insurer and landlord the installation is safe.
  • New distribution boards, circuits for tills, coffee machines, fridges and air conditioning.
  • Shutter and door entry wiring, data cabling and Wi-Fi.
  • Maintenance contracts with one number to call for faults.

Example: a running shop in St Albans

For Runners World in St Albans we fitted LED lighting throughout, replaced the distribution board, added power for the staff kitchen and roof air conditioning, and installed a Verkada camera system as a deterrent. Read the case study.

Questions we’re asked

Can you work outside trading hours?

Yes. We work early, late or in stages so the shop keeps trading, and we leave the floor tidy for opening.

Is cloud CCTV suitable for a small shop?

Often, yes. There is no recorder to buy, maintain or have stolen, the owner can check the shop from a phone, and more cameras can be added later.

Do I need signs if I have CCTV?

Yes. If cameras record people, UK data protection guidance expects clear signs telling them CCTV is in use and who to contact.

Can you upgrade our lighting to LED without closing?

Usually. We change fittings in sections, often before opening, so the shop is never in the dark.

Need it done by a date?
