- East London LD1 upgrades
LD1 fire alarm upgrades in 346 East London homes.
Since April 2026 our engineers have been upgrading fire detection in homes across Waltham Forest and Newham for United Infrastructure. The programme is still running.

The programme
Since April 2026 we have taken on 346 homes for LD1 fire alarm upgrades for United Infrastructure, across these postcodes:
| Postcode | Area | Homes |
|---|---|---|
| E4 | Chingford | 81 |
| E17 | Walthamstow | 79 |
| E10 | Leyton | 76 |
| E11 | Leytonstone | 41 |
| E15 | Stratford | 33 |
| E6 | East Ham | 23 |
| E7 | Forest Gate | 12 |
What LD1 means. Under BS 5839-6, an LD1 system puts smoke or heat detection in the escape routes and in every room where a fire might start, apart from bathrooms, shower rooms and toilets. It is the highest category of fire detection for a home. See fire alarm grades LD1, LD2 and LD3.
Door entry and warden call
Alongside the upgrades, we have carried out 121 door entry and warden call jobs at 98 addresses since August 2024, mostly in Leyton (E10): new and replacement door entry, warden call installs and revisits, maglock replacements and BT line moves. See warden call systems and door entry.
How we run a programme
- One team, one standard. Our own employed engineers, working to the same test schedule and photo record on every property.
- Access planned around residents. We work to the client’s booking and access arrangements, and record no-access visits so they can be rebooked.
- Records you can file. Every visit is photographed, and certificates and reports come back in the format the client asks for.
- Remedials by the same team. What the inspection finds is quoted and put right without handing over to another firm.
Housing providers, managing agents and main contractors can talk to us about EICR programmes, fire alarm upgrades and ongoing repairs. Call 01727 238 999.

Questions
Is the programme finished?
Not yet. Since April 2026 we have taken on 346 homes. In mid-October 2026, 98 were complete and the rest were in progress or booked.
What else do you do in these blocks?
Door entry, warden call and access control repairs and installs, lift-related electrical works, and three-monthly electrical safety checks.
Can you take on LD1 upgrades for us?
Yes. We plan the detector layout, install, test and certify, and record every home with photographs.
