Electrician in Slough.
Employed, NICEIC-registered engineers working across Slough, from Chalvey and Cippenham to Britwell and Wexham, for housing providers, landlords and homes.

Our work in Slough
Since June 2024 our engineers have been instructed on 207 jobs at 155 addresses in Slough, almost all in SL1 and SL2. That is a real count from our job system, not a marketing figure.
- Day-to-day repairs in Anchor sheltered and retirement housing, for Axis Europe: 65 lighting jobs, 50 in kitchens and bathrooms, 23 on heating and hot water and 16 on extractor fans, plus consumer unit and fault-finding work. See sheltered housing repairs.
- Balcony lighting, CCTV faults and fans for other clients.
Each repair is booked to a single flat, with a fixed appointment, and closed with photographs, so the housing provider can see what was done without a second visit.
Slough’s homes
Two in three Slough households live in a house, and nearly a third rent privately, well above the England average of about one in five. That busy rental market is why the council wants licensing back.
| Census 2021 | Share of households |
|---|---|
| Owner-occupied (including shared ownership) | 49.5% |
| Rented from the council or a housing association | 19.6% |
| Rented privately | 30.9% |
| Living in a flat or maisonette | 33.6% |
Licensing for Slough landlords
- Now: mandatory HMO licensing applies to HMOs with five or more people. Slough’s earlier borough-wide additional licensing and its selective licensing in Chalvey and Central wards ran from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2024.
- Proposed: selective licensing for privately rented homes across all wards, and additional licensing for smaller HMOs with three or four people. The consultation ran from 15 July to 23 September 2026, and the results go to the council’s Cabinet. The council puts the number of homes affected at almost 17,000.
- Get ready: an in-date EICR, working smoke and CO alarms and, in HMOs, fire alarm and emergency lighting certificates. See fire alarms and emergency lighting testing.
Schemes change, so always check with the council before you apply.
How we work
Our engineers are employed by SEG and NICEIC registered, and work from SEG House in Chiswell Green, St Albans, just off the M25 and M1. We plan work by area, so you get a fixed appointment, and every job is photographed with certificates you can file.
Landlords and agents can see what an EICR costs and ask about programme rates. Housing providers and contractors, see housing providers and sheltered housing repairs. Privately rented homes in England need an EICR at least every five years, with any remedial work done within 28 days.
Questions about Slough
Does my rental in Slough need a licence?
Only if it is a large HMO (five or more people from two or more households), for now. Slough’s last schemes ended on 30 June 2024. The council consulted on new borough-wide selective and additional licensing from 15 July to 23 September 2026, and its Cabinet will decide whether to bring them in. If it goes ahead, almost every privately rented home in Slough will need a licence.
Do I need an EICR to let a home in Slough?
Yes. Privately rented homes in England need an EICR at least every five years, with a copy for the tenant and any remedial work done within 28 days. If licensing returns, the council can ask to see it. See what an EICR costs.
Do you cover Langley, Cippenham and Britwell?
Yes. Most of our Slough work so far has been in SL1 and SL2. Call with your postcode.
