What we found
- High R1 reading on the kitchen ring - a conductor had fallen out of a Wago, overheating and partly melting it
- Loose earth and loose terminals at the immersion heater, with basic protection exposed
- Cracked fused spur feeding the fridge
- Earth to load popped out in a switch
- One unlabelled circuit; shower Type AC RCD downstream of another 30mA RCD
What we did
- Full EICR of the installation, including storage heaters, electric shower and off-peak immersion
- Split the kitchen ring and dropped sockets to trace the high reading
- Replaced the melted Wago connector and retested the ring
- Tightened and remade the immersion heater terminations
- Replaced the damaged fridge spur
- Re-terminated the loose earth in the switch
- Tested all sockets and closed up all points
- Issued the EICR as Satisfactory
Equipment used
- Kewtech socket tester
Paperwork: EICR (Satisfactory).
