Licensing for Enfield landlords

  • Selective licensing: from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2031 in 17 wards: Bowes, Brimsdown, Bullsmoor, Carterhatch, Edmonton Green, Enfield Lock, Haselbury, Jubilee, Lower Edmonton, Ponders End, Southbury, Upper Edmonton and Whitewebbs, plus New Southgate, Palmers Green, Southgate and Town.
  • Additional HMO licensing: the whole borough, from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2030.

Schemes change, so always check with the council before you apply.

How we work

Our engineers are employed by SEG and NICEIC registered, and work from SEG House in Chiswell Green, St Albans, just off the M25 and M1. We plan work by area, so you get a fixed appointment, and every job is photographed with certificates you can file.

Landlords and agents can see what an EICR costs and ask about programme rates. Housing providers and contractors, see housing providers and sheltered housing repairs. Privately rented homes in England need an EICR at least every five years, with any remedial work done within 28 days.

Questions about Enfield

Does my rental in Enfield need a licence?

Probably, if it is in one of the 17 wards in Enfield’s selective licensing scheme, which started on 1 September 2026, or if it is an HMO, which needs a licence anywhere in the borough. Check your address with the council.

Do I need an EICR for an Enfield licence?

Enfield’s licence conditions require the electrical installation to be kept safe, with a declaration of its safety if the council asks. Privately rented homes in England need an EICR at least every five years anyway, so it is the document that shows it.

Do you cover Edmonton, Southgate and Palmers Green?

Yes. Most of our Enfield work so far has been in EN1 and EN3. Call with your postcode.
