Data cabling in Stevenage.
Trained cabling engineers, racks built to be serviced, and every link proved with our own Fluke tester. You get the results.
We cable offices, units and sites around Stevenage from SEG House in Chiswell Green, St Albans, about 19 miles away via the A1(M). Our engineers are trained in structured cabling, we build the racks, and every link is proved with our own Fluke certification tester before handover.
Where we cable in Stevenage
Stevenage has a large employment base, including the Gunnels Wood Road business area, the town centre and Old Town, plus schools and housing. We already work in the borough, and you can see our emergency lighting project for housing blocks in Stevenage Borough. For commercial customers we take on the whole electrical and data side of a job, so cabling is planned with power and containment.
Jobs we take on
- New offices and fit-outs: Cat6 and Cat6A cabling, containment, patching and labelling to a scheme you can follow.
- Comms cabinets and rack builds: patch panels, switches, power and UPS, built to be serviced years later.
- Fibre links between floors, buildings and outbuildings.
- Extra points and moves in an existing building, tested and documented.
- Cabling for Wi-Fi and CCTV, where the cabling decides how well the system performs.
Moving into or out of a unit?
Data cabling is easy to forget at a lease start or end. If you are taking a unit, a test on day one shows you what you have inherited before problems become your problem. If you are leaving, a test and a clear record show what you are handing back. Check what your lease requires, and ask us to test what is there so you can decide.
Testing: the proof
A basic cable tester checks that the wires are connected. A Fluke certification tester measures how each link performs against the Cat6 or Cat6A standard and records a PASS or FAIL. We explain the difference, the cost and the questions to ask any installer on our data cabling and Fluke testing page. Wi-Fi is covered on business Wi-Fi, and cameras on CCTV.
What we need for a quote
A floor plan or photos, the number of points, where the cabinet will go, the cable category and any access limits. Email your plans to hello@segplc.com or call 01727 238 999.
Questions people ask
Do you do data cabling in Stevenage?
Yes. We work across Hertfordshire from our head office in Chiswell Green, St Albans, about 19 miles from Stevenage via the A1(M). Call with the address and what you need cabled and we will tell you what is practical.
Can you test cabling in a Stevenage unit that someone else installed?
Yes. We can test existing links with our Fluke certification tester and give you the results link by link. It is a good way to know what you are inheriting before you move in, or what you are handing back.
Do you install fibre between buildings in Stevenage?
Yes, we install and test fibre as well as copper. Tell us the distance, the route and what the link will carry and we will agree the method before we quote.
Do you also do Wi-Fi and CCTV in Stevenage?
Yes, through our group companies SEGwifi and SEGcore. Both depend on good cabling, which is why we build and test that ourselves.
What do you need to give a quote?
A floor plan or photos, the number of points, where the cabinet will go, the cable category you want and any access limits. We can also survey in person.
